Two men were arrested Monday in connection to a shooting that left a juvenile hospitalized last week in the Lake County town of Nice, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit served two search warrants on May 12 in the areas of Lucerne and Lakeport. Logan Marschall, 19, of Lakeport, and Ronald Medina, 20, of Lucerne, were taken into custody in relation to the May 9 shooting, the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Lakeview Way and Buckingham Way in Nice. Deputies responded to reports of shots fired and found a juvenile victim bleeding from the chest, according to scanner traffic. A brown Honda was reportedly associated with the incident. The victim was flown to an out-of-county hospital in stable condition.
Authorities believe the shooting was an isolated incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit tip line at (707) 262-4088.
I’ve heard the kid had his leg amputated as a result of the shooting, one of five shots took off his hat. Now one of those arrested has bailed out of jail. The LC Sheriff needs to let the public know what is going on.
They may both go free under the “He Needed Killing Law” of old lake county.
Why the radio silence from the LCSO and the media about this? Did the kid lose his leg? Why was one of those arrested released? Brown Honda or Black Suburban? Why did it happen? I live two blocks from where this happened and can’t get info about what went down from folks that should be providing it.
Wondering what street I should avoid getting down the hill…
The day I got the keys to my house up above Plumas, I introduced myself to a neighbor. I asked how he liked living here. He replied, “It’s great, just don’t drive down Buckingham. The weird Chop Shop compound, Tweaker mobile is bad.”
He was correct. A never ending stream of junk cars and garbage trailers, and a load of cars when the meth gets delivered, is the day to day. Unpermitted construction ignored by the county there. I’ve complained about the blight, to no avail.
Nice is a bit of a law enforcement desert.
